Shira Route day by day program.
Day 1 - Drive to Shira Gate Hike to Shira 2 Camp 3850m Above sea level

On the first day you will be driven to the national park Shira gate; then from there on you wil hike through the rain forest on a winding trail up a ridge. Shira camp is 4-5 hours away from the starting point, where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Shira Camp(3850m)- Lava Tower – Barranco camp (4000m) Above sea level
This day is a good day to acclimatize and help your body prepare for the summit day.From the Shira plateau you will continue to the Lava tower from the lava tower on to the Barranco Camp. Hiking time takes 5-6 Hours
Day 3  Barranco Camp 4000m  - Karanga Camp 4050m Above sea level
From barranco camp we continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco wall to the Karanga valley. You will stop at Karanga Camp where you will spend the night. Hiking time takes 3-4 hours
Day 4 Karanga Camp 4050m – Barafu Camp 4700m Above sea level
Hiking time: 3-4 hours
From Karanga camp we will head to the barafu camp. By reaching barafu camp you would have completed the Southern circuit. You will rest at barafu camp, enjoy dinner and prepare for the summit day.
Day 5  Barafu Camp 4700m – Summit 5895m – Down to Mweka 3090m Above sea level
Hiking time: 5-7 hours up and 5-6 hours down
This is usually the big day as you’ll start walking in the middle of the night as you climb towards Stella point (5730m), It takes 5-7 hours to reach the edge of the crater. After few hours you will have reached Uhuru Peak where you will enjoy the big sun rising overt the African Landscape. You will head back to Barafu Camp along the same route where you can rest and relax before heading to Mweka for the last night in Mount Kilimanjaro
Day 6 Mweka camp 3090m – Mweka Gate 1680m Above sea level
After breakfast you will descend to Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit ceritificates that you worked so hard for. From the gate you will be picked up by transport where you can head back to your hotel for a long due hot shower.After transfer back to the hotel Alternatively, you can extend your trip with a safari or a relaxing beach holiday..
